Overall Objective for the Experience
Participants will understand how DCB creates flexible and collaborative systems and balances these with behavioral techniques and academic rigor to ensure FAPE for all and maximize teacher efficacy.
Day 1
Understand DCB’s History, School Model & Approach: Gain insight into DCB’s history, mission, lead values, and core components that drive student success.
Deepen knowledge of how flexible, student-centered systems support inclusion at DCB: Learn our key models, benefits, and strategies to enhance instruction and support diverse learners.
Explore systems in practice: Observe classrooms, analyze environmental policies, and learn specific aspects of the DCB approach to SPED in order to maximize student growth.
Day 2
Explore collaboration at DCB: Examine the purpose, approach, and best practices of behavioral and socio-emotional support that allow for collaboration, flexibility, and student growth.
Discuss specific aspects of the DCB approach to SPED with teachers in order to maximize student growth.Ìý
Reflect on how different stakeholders can create and support inclusive environments that foster growth. Use the mindsets and tools of the DCB approach and identify specific aspects of SPED systems you will implement;Ìý create an initial roadmap with clear goals, defined roles, and next steps to strengthen inclusion at your school.
